Void Codex 1.3.1
Support
Void Codex is a tabletop battle recorder for card games, engineered by Void Axis. Connected Mode is now available.
What is Connected Mode?
Connected Mode lets 2–6 players take part in the same game from separate devices. One device is the Host; other players join that local session from their own iPhone or iPad. Gameplay does not require internet access: devices communicate over the local network.
How to connect
The preferred approach is for the Host to use Personal Hotspot. Alternatively, connect every device to the same local Wi-Fi network.
- On the Host device, open Void Codex and select Connected Mode.
- Select Host Game, complete setup, and create the Lobby.
- On each other device, select Connected Mode → Join Existing Session.
- Join the Host’s local session.
- When everyone is ready, the Host starts the game.
Local Network permission
iOS may ask for permission to access your Local Network. Allowing this access is required for Void Codex to communicate with other devices in a Connected Mode session. Connected Mode is local-network based and does not need internet access for normal gameplay.
If access was denied, go to iOS Settings → Void Codex → Local Network, enable it, then reopen Void Codex and retry the session.
Host and session behaviour
The Host controls the session. Turn order and gameplay state stay synchronised across connected devices, and the Host can manage participants with Player Controls.
BUMP temporarily removes a participant from active turn progression while retaining their session, seat, and state. RESTORE returns an eligible bumped participant to normal progression. Disconnected, Bumped, Eliminated, Scooped, and VACANT are distinct player states.
Gameplay tracking
Connected Mode synchronises relevant game information, including:
- Life and poison
- CMD / Commander damage tracking
- Turn order
- Round and game-state information
- Player and session status
Reconnect and troubleshooting
- Confirm every device is connected to the same Host hotspot or local Wi-Fi network.
- Confirm Local Network permission is enabled on iPhone or iPad.
- Check that the Host session is still running, then retry joining after a disconnect.
- When using Personal Hotspot, participating devices must remain connected to that hotspot.
- If the Host or session changed, reconnect using the current Host/session details.
Choose the right mode
Connected Mode is for players using their own devices. Table Mode is for a table sharing one device.
